When we feel pain, it is the body’s way of letting us know that something is wrong. Many times, the only symptom we may have to warn us is pain. Many people do not realize the pain is not the actual medical issue but it is the result of a medical issue. Pain is caused by the fibers of the nerves being stimulated. A chiropractor must figure out what exactly is causing the nerves to be stimulated. That is what the real problem is.
A chiropractor must determine if the pain is caused by an issue with a ligament, muscle, or bone. The problem may not be caused by any of those things but instead, there is a restricted or misaligned joint in the spine that is triggering the pain. The following are some facts about pain that patients may not know:
Easing the pain does not make the medical condition go away. About 10 percent of the body’s nervous system is responsible for 100 percent of the body’s pain. Because there is such a small area of nerves that are responsible for pain, it is typically the first symptom to disappear when treatment has started. However, that does not mean the medical issue that caused the pain is cured.
For example, if a patient is suffering pain caused by misalignment of the spine, the pain may ease up with just one or two chiropractic treatments. However, depending on how severe the misalignment was, the chiropractor will likely still see spinal issues that still need to be resolved through further treatments.
Endorphins are natural painkillers. Our bodies release endorphins during certain activities. Exercise is one of the major activities that cause these release. Endorphins actually help decrease pain, depression, and anxiety. Endorphins are a much healthier and safer way to treat pain, especially compared to prescription painkillers which can produce unpleasant side effects, as well as the present the high risk of addiction. A chiropractor can show you safe exercises that will help your body release endorphins to combat the pain you may be suffering from your injury or condition.
Chiropractic Treatments
When a patient is suffering from back pain, chiropractic treatments are one of the most effective and least invasive options available. A chiropractor can help realign and restore the spine, taking care of what the initial medical issue is that is causing the pain. Chiropractic treatment actually makes the pain go away instead of using prescription painkillers to mask the pain. Treatments can be completed within minutes, unlike other medical treatments, such as surgery which usually means a recovery period of months. Immediately following chiropractic treatments, most patients leave the office feeling so much better and pain-free.
